Petaluma, CA, November 16, 2020 – Lyle and Debra Smith, owners of Martin Ranch Supply, have agreed to sell their retail store which will relocate to Wilco’s site. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will still own and operate the Martin Ranch Mfg. facility and will continue to produce equine, livestock, barn and ranch supplies; including gates, panels, shelters, stall fronts, doors, bridle racks, and other items locally made in Rohnert Park.
Wilco plans to bring a portion of the store inventory over to their site on McDowell Blvd. and add many of the Martin Ranch Mfg. products to the store which is slated to open on December 2nd. A clearance event will be held at the current Martin Ranch Supply site at 5980 Redwood Drive, Rohnert Park, beginning on December 4th and run until all remaining product has been liquidated.
When asked about the sale, Lyle Smith said, “As discussions evolved, it became apparent that Wilco and Martin Ranch Supply share a customer service and community-centric approach. Their desire to further the Martin Ranch Supply legacy and feature products that we will continue to manufacture locally under the name of Martin Ranch Mfg. only demonstrates their commitment to quality and community. Knowing our customers’ needs will be fully addressed with greater choices and availability, we will be able to focus even more on the core business that is at the root of our 46-year-old journey.”
The Martin Ranch Supply retail store team has been offered jobs at either the Martin Ranch Mfg. business or the new Wilco Store. Wilco has a history of acquiring local farm stores where there is a cultural fit. “This was a good match from the beginning where we have similar values in the community, 4H, FFA, and strengthening agriculture. We believe in quality service and offering farm-proven products, so we’re pleased this opportunity also comes with adding a quality, locally made product line to the new Petaluma store,” said TJ Colson, Wilco’s VP of Store Operations.
In addition to the products found at Martin Ranch Supply, Wilco will offer an even larger farm and equine selection, a full pet department with dog grooming, a workwear and boots department, a plants and garden center, and True Value hardware with Benjamin Moore paint.
“We look forward to incorporating what Martin Ranch Supply has done well into our expanded offering and services at the Petaluma store. We recognize we’re new to the area and our actions matter more than words, so we look forward to showing the community that our values and commitments are the foundation behind what we do,” says TJ Colson.
