Sometimes called Marion Blackberry, the Marionberry is a cross between the Chehalem and Olallie blackberry. It was developed by the USDA in cooperation with Oregon State University. Often described as both sweet and tart, marionberries make great pies and are excellent fresh or with iced cream. Before planting: soak bare-root raspberry plants’ roots in a bucket or large tub of water for one to two hours. This helps to keep the roots from drying out while you prepare the planting hole. Don’t soak roots for more than six hours.
