Mixing Directions:
For 2.3 quarts of mixed milk replacer solution, add 12 ounces (approximately three scoops of the included scoop) to 2 quarts warm water (115-120 F). Mix thoroughly with wire whisk. After mixing powder with water, refrigerate extra milk replacer solution promptly and use within 24 hours after warming to a feeding temperature of 102-105 F.The enclosed cup holds approximately 4 ounces of dry milk replacer powder. Weigh powder for best results. Cool milk replacer solution to body temperature (102-105 F) before feeding.
For large breed calves (120 lbs. bodyweight): Fill a 2-quart bottle to the rim with 2.3 quarts of milk replacer solution and feed twice daily per calf. Adjust feeding rates for small breed calves. Always offer clean, free-choice water.
Each animal is an individual. The amount fed may need to be adjusted to support optimal body condition and growth. Animals may need an additional feeding of non-medicated milk replacer or energy supplement during cold weather. Consult with your veterinarian or animal nutritionist if you have questions.
Important note for newborn calf care: Colostrum is the first milk from the cow following birth, providing nutrients that are essential to the calf’s health and growth. Newborns should receive colostrum in the first day of life, before feeding milk replacer. Feed large breed calves 4 quarts of clean, high-quality colostrum as soon as possible after birth, preferably within the first 2 hours, and again 12 hours later. Begin feeding milk replacer on day 2.
If maternal colostrum is not available use a powdered, high quality colostrum replacer. If maternal colostrum is in short supply, use a powdered colostrum supplement and mix into colostrum according to label directions. For calves that develop scours (diarrhea) or need support during hot weather or other times of stress, feed an electrolyte supplement between milk feedings.
