Standlee Premium Chopped Alfalfa is naturally Sun Cured Western Alfalfa Forage cut into approximately 2-4″pieces. A small amount of canola oil is added to the chopped forage to control any potential dust. Alfalfa forage is low in sugar, moderately high in protein, high in calories and digestible fiber. Standlee Premium Chopped Alfalfa is often mixed with the grain portion of a diet to slow the rate of intake of grain. It is also utilized as a highly palatable carrier for medications for sick animals.
Recommended for growing horses (moderate to rapid growth), underweight horses, performance horses, mares in late pregnancy and lactating, horses with sensitivity to carbohydrates and horses with gastric ulcers.

FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
Feed horses at a minimum rate of 1.5% of body weight per day.
For horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed, it is recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minutes or until properly softened.
If Standlee Premium Western Chopped Forage is being fed to replace only a portion of the hay in the diet, gradually remove the desired amount of hay and add the same weight of Standlee Chopped Alfalfa.

Forage Format by species:
Alpaca, llama, bison, camel, deer, elk, goat or sheep: bale, pellets and/or chopped.
Horse or cattle: bale, pellets, cubes and/or chopped.
Pigs: pellets only.
Gradually replace existing hay on a one to one basis with Standlee over a seven-ten day period. All other livestock, if allowed forage format, should be switched over a 14 day period.
Never feed moldy or insect-infested forage to horses. Always provide free access to fresh, clean water.
